Egyptian General Intelligence Service

The Egyptian General Intelligence Service (Arabic: al-Mukhabarat al-‘Amma) (GIS or EGIS) is the country’s primary foreign intelligence service, although its role also overlaps with other domestic intelligence agencies. It enjoys particular prestige as the only agency reporting directly to the presidency, and the one responsible for liaison with foreign services such as the CIA.

It is based in the Cairo suburb of Hada’ak al-Kubbah.
