Yes, this is a man with a horrible personality. He didn't do what he did because he was autistic.

But his autism and lack of RL support played a HUGE part in how susceptible he was to trolls and the trolling is a huge part of this picture.

I'm ploughing through the youtube documentary series, up to part 16 (which has just been removed for some reason) and the Liquid Chris stuff. In terms of abuse, this is as bad as the disgusting things he has been persuaded to do on camera IMO. A man does a poor impression of him over months of YT videos and says he's the real Chris and that Chris is an imposter - and every single person Chris knows, aside from his parents, plays along with this ruse and pretends they also believe that Liquid Chris is the real Chris and that Chris is the imposter. And Chris has nobody to give him a reality check and say 'obviously this is nonsense, just ignore them'. Because he's autistic he struggles to understand the ulterior motives of all these people who pretend to be his friends but who say they believe the other Chris is the real one. So he invests loads and loads of effort into trying to convince people that he is the real Chris and they all just continue to wind him up and watch him go, because they are immature and cruel and it amuses them - and because it's so very easy. This is gaslighting on an industrial scale and the aim seems to have been to destroy Chris's mind for fun.

They could just as easily have done this to another austitic person who happened not to be an a-hole and it would have been every bit as cruel and harmful.

I'm up to 2009 and I gather there's worse to come. One huge factor in all this is that Chris was an early adopter of the internet and social media. Ordinary people didn't start going online until the late 90's and 'web 2.0' - social media, user generated content, sharing across platforms etc. - didn't get going until around 2005. If his parents were online at all then they would have been sending emails and looking up information on static websites. He had nobody older and wiser to guide him through what was then a kind of wild west.

CWC is a horrible man with huge amounts of narcissism and male entitlement. I don't believe he would have been such a DANGEROUS horrible man if it had not been for the unique clusterf* of organised long-term trolling, his autism making that very easy, lack of RL support and encountering the internet at a specific point in history.

CWC is 100% responsible for his crimes.

His trolls are 100% responsible for their actions and I hope that some of those actions are crimes so they can be brought to justice.

Whatever passes for support services in the US or the State of Virginia is 100% responsible for its failures.
